Popular Cabinet Materials

WOOD

Nothing beats the look of real wood. Real wood cabinets are incredibly durable and highly customizable. They come in a variety of types, such as maple, oak, hickory, cherry and pine, and can bring a timeless look to your kitchen or bathroom, as well as value to your home.

MDF

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is an engineered product of finer wood fibers and adhesive fused to create panels for cabinet doors and shelves. MDF will typically be covered with a laminate or melamine for color and texture, but it also accepts paint very well.

VENEERS

With veneer cabinets, a thin ply of wood veneer is applied to a substrate of plywood or a composite material like MDF or particle board. The finished cabinet can be visually stunning, and can be considerably less expensive and more desirable than a solid wood alternative.

LAMINATE

Laminate is constructed of particle board with a thin coat of laminate veneer added to give the appearance of real wood. It’s a low cost alternative, making it a great option, especially for those looking for contemporary design and an easy to clean surface.

MELAMINE

Melamine cabinets start with a compressed wood particle core, which is then covered with a resin and paper finish that can be manufactured to provide endless color and pattern possibilities. Its tough finish provides a durable surface perfect for kitchens and baths.

THERMOFOIL

Thermofoil is constructed using heat and pressure to bond a thin layer of PVC film to a shaped component of MDF. The result is a seamless surface that covers a panel’s face and edges. Thermofoil cabinets offers a wide range of color and pattern options.
